Forage Sorghum

Forage Sorghum

SINGLE-CUT HYBRIDS Forage Sorghum products are taller grain-bearing hybrids than grain sorghum products; they are typically dwarfed on only 2 of the 4 height genes, which enables increased size and biomass yields. Grain-bearing hybrids typically produce up to 25% of the total silage tonnage as starch and can have other beneficial characteristics like sweet stalks. These products are determinate (meaning they do not regrow after cutting) which makes them best suited for single-cut silage operations. Optimum harvest timing to maximize tonnage and quality occurs at late milk to soft dough stage.
